TCG Alters Types

We have grouped types of TCG Alters into categories used by all our Artists.  For information about the following types of alters, read the sections below:

    Border Extension

Border extensions are a natural extension of the original art which extends over the borders and frames.

    Full Extension

A full extension is an extension of the original art which covers the borders, frames, and text box.  Full Extensions are otherwise known as Full Arts.

    Art Box Replacement

A complete replacement of the original art within the art box of the card.

    Extended Art Box Replacement

A complete replacement of the original art within the art box of the card extended throughout the borders of the card.

    Full Art Replacement

Entirely new art on top of the original card extended across all borders, frames and text box.

    Art Adjustments

Adjustments or overlays to the original art which leave most of the card surface unaltered.

    Distressed/Weathered

These are effects on the card which add energy, weather, or other cracked-like effects making the card look more textured and three dimensional.

    Foil Peel

Foil Peeling is a technique to combine multiple foil artworks from multiple cards onto a single alter.  The artist carefully peels away the foil layer from one card, trims it down, and glues it onto another card for visual effect.
